The next round of fixtures saw high-flying Vale of Lune side come to visit the buoyed up Cavaliers.
The weather was poor but the slower games normally help the cavalier style of play, sadly not today. A very plucky display ultimately ended up a hammering a solid 50 minutes or so and very strong finish was not enough to save a disappointing scoreline.
1. A n other (sponsored by Fellside Farming) showed up well in the tight a couple of hits but really does need to retire 6.5
2. Andrew Thornber debut effort this season, worked hard in the tight and part of a dominant scrum performance, had to retire early when he started to sober up 7
3. Tom Carton Whitaker, Thomas the tank engine was in fine form, good in the set piece and strong showing in the loose with plenty of big shots a really solid effort all aboard Choo Choo 8.0
4. Captain Kirk (also sponsored by Fellside Farming) a much more disciplined display than last week, until he started a fight with a fairly blatant high tackle made amends by scoring a sensational try but then once again courted controversy by scoring over the dead ball line 7.5
5. JT - awful hair, even worse beard but what a game the bearded beast did everything but score, strong offense and ran with purpose. 8.6
6. Matt Mitchell, leapt like a salmon at line out time providing a secure flow of possession a couple of delightful cheap shots and a couple of expensive ones too. 7
7. Forest, a delight to watch as literally anything can happen a couple of nice darts tried hard at line out time and even managed a ruck or two this week good work as the transition continues 7.5
8. Mitch Jones: another enjoying the joy of learning to play with the big boys worked round the park nicely, next step rucking another positive step towards manhood (well being a forward) 7.5
9.Super Sammy Cheeseman given a hard time by a strong, experienced and fit Lune backrow who really dominated the game, continues to grow into the scrum half role and even had a kick at the end. 7.0
10. Matt Probart another returning stalwart and had a very solid game not quite able to set the back line on fire but credit to the Vale back row for battering us. A couple of lovely touches plenty of promise 8
11. Austin - showed his versatility by slipping back into the three quarters, wasn't given much of an opportunity to show his attacking talents but worked hard in defence and definitely wished he'd stayed in the pack 7.0
12. Kino, well was Kino he did everything you could ask for in back and even managed not to smoke this week 8
13. Matt Mason - needs a hair brush, along with the rest of the back line suffered from the lack of ball and the strong loon defence, still showed up well in defence a debut to be proud of 7.5
14 Craig Harrison - like Austin never really got the chance to shine but worked hard and surprisingly for a win didn't complain about the weather once 7
15. Teflon, couldn't quite live up to his new neon boots was unlucky to be on the wrong end of a double hit (made worse by the fact he was hit three seconds after a knock on) still good effort in the warm up and the boots did provide some light relief n/a
16. John Banko Bank, called into action after only a few minutes due to Teflon being double teamed. Read the game like a book, worked hard in the loose and put in a superb try saving tackle at the death 7.5
17. Charlie Weare - finally a proper ginger guy in the side, apart from mentioning that he hadn't played in 3 years every two minutes made an excellent debut a couple of lovely tales and breaks good to see 7.5
18. The 1st XV - as the game was starting to slip away it was a great feeling to look up and see the ones wondering over to lend some support, it gave the lads a real lift a certainly led to the final try of the match by captain Kirk a much appreciated and classy gesture (but you had beers so - 5)
Onwards and upwards for the cavaliers.
