A poignant week for the 2XV a huge game. double header away at Bolton one game in place of the usual home away fixture. And also an emotional one with a minutes silence for Benji’s untimely passing with this fixture being the one where Benji had made his senior debut not so long ago.
A real plethora of talent and able bodied misfits had been summoned.
The heavyweight but mobile pack was instantly nullified with Bolton having no front row to start the game. There was nothing to differentiate between the teams for 30 mins before Bolton opened the score.
The maroons quick to answer through some great forward play and a charging Will Dickenson drawing the men to let skipper Bleasy scamp his way to the corner 5-5 at half time.
The second half started with much of the same Bolton again scoring first and quickly countered by the skipper in the opposite corner
10-10 all to play for.
Bolton found a substitute for the last half hour. But 3 unanswered Bolton tries and two conversions sealed the game for the home team.
Was nice to see the Dickenson brothers both back alongside big James Pate, but at the other end former colt Jack Downham playing out of position joining his former teammates Jake Best and Blane Birch bringing the average age down ....and the mobility up.
