This was to be the only evening fixture of the campaign and it was away to Wigan 3rd Team, with the all players making a great effort to get to the match in time for kick off.
The early exchanges were all Clitheroe with Basquill scorching in for an early score shortly to be followed by Peel who stole the ball in the tackle to touch down under the posts and big boy Ben Graves steamrollering his way over to touch down. With the kicking metronome Lafranceschina slotting the conversions it looked like plain sailing for the Maroon & Gold. Wigan had other ideas and came out firing in the second half with some typical direct running and deserve credit for playing a tough game. They scored an un-converted try and this spurred Clitheroe into action – after a great run of play and recycling of the ball it was Bartle who used his deceptive pace to barrel over and Clitheroe went into a 26 – 5 lead. Wigan are a tough team and they gave a fantastic finish scoring two tries to come back into the game but as the whistle went the score was in the favour of the mighty Maroon & Gold 26 – 15.
