This Saturday see the final league games of the 16/17 season.
The 1st XV make the short hop to Preston Grasshoppers to face their 4ths.
Hoppers are mid table in the league and could jump up a couple of places whereas Clitheroe will finish a respectable second place.
In the corresponding fixture earlier in the season the maroons shaded a tough game by a single point 37-36, so any thoughts of this being a dead rubber will be quickly extinguished . Any game at Lightfoot Green is a challenge and doubtless this will be no exception. But a good performance will set them up nicely for Saturday week in the LBS Bowl Final.
Meanwhile at Littlemoor , the 2s come to the end of a somewhat tricky challenging season, welcoming deserved table toppers Tyldesley.
The 2nds will probably finish in 8th in 4N which is a highly creditable position considering all the chopping and changing in personnel that occurs in every two team club's lower team. Huge kudos to all the lads who have pulled on a jersey for the team this season. It is often said you can judge the strength of a club by looking at its 2nd XV and this shows Clitheroe in excellent light, especially in a season when a number of similar sized clubs to ours have suffered, reduced to one team and even folded in some cases.
#COYMs has been the trendy hashtag this term = Come on you Maroons! Amen to that.
Kick of is 3pm and our referee is Mr Andy Irvine ( not that one) from the Manchester Society.
