Two big home games to kick off with

At last the opening day of the eagerly anticipated new season is upon us this weekend.

A season of change at Littlemoor as the 1st XV move into a new RFU league set up, Lancs/Cheshire 3 North.
This gives us 1st XV fixtures against many of our old sparring partners from some years back. First up are Garstang.
The two clubs have not met at 1st team level for quite a number of years so there is no past form to really go on.
Garstang had an up and down season last term – they started well , had a bit of a dip in the mid season, then came back strongly towards the end with some great victories. A mid table finish was the result.

Clitheroe under new coach Getty Schinkel, field an interesting squad with a few new faces and many of last seasons successful squad.
1st XV skipper Will Dickenson is still out of action and a frustrated observer with an Achilles problem, but new men Callum Harrison and John Cuddy deserve their debuts after impressing pre season.

Kick off is 3pm and our referee is Mr Simon Keeley from the Manchester Society

Meanwhile the 2nd XV travel, for their opening game, to the seaside to meet Fylde Vandals (4ths).
Under the new leadership of Jamie Taylor, who will be surrounded by plenty of age and experience in the pack.
The Woodlands' at Lytham fast dry pitch may not suit the supertankers, but the more fleet of foot will enjoy the good going .

On Sunday the U17's kick off their campaign in the Halbro NW Junior Colts league, with Oxton Parkonians the visitors.
This is a great opportunity for the lads to progress further in their rugby education, a full fixture list of competitive games makes for an exciting season ahead in 2017-18
