After the past few years under the care of joint head coaches Luke Loveridge and Ross Chamberlain the club has definitely progressed in terms of on-field performance and off-field participation and engagement overall. The experience and all-round rugby nous and leadership that Mark's appointment brings will allow the playing side to step onwards and upwards and to achieve the successes aspired to by the vibrant and energetic playing group we now have within the club.
Most recently Mark simultaneously occupied roles as Head Coach at our East Lancashire neighbours, Burnley RUFC and Head of Rugby at the University of York, whilst also assisting at Wakefield Trinity with the Academy U21s. Other coaching experience was gained at Old Crossleyans in Yorkshire 1 and at Halifax, when they were in North 1. Prior to coaching, Mark enjoyed a successful playing career from his formative as a Yorkshire Colt to playing at Sheffield RUFC in National N3, Bedford RUFC in the old Division 1 and Halifax RUFC in National 1.
Dave Watson, Playing Committee Chairman stated, "Mark's straight-forward approach, great experience and general will-to-win will undoubtedly mean we have every opportunity to gain the success we've all been working towards in the areas of player development, team ethos and ultimately, winning!"
We welcome Mark and look forward to a great pre-season programme, starting next week on Thursday 7th July at our Littlemoor Road home, as we build up to the exciting league and cup programme that commences in September for all."
