1st XV host Ashton under Lyne

Just the one senior game this weekend, when long overdue visitors are Ashton under Lyne RFC.

In fact the two Clubs have not faced each other since January 2013 when the Manchester team headed off down the M66 with the spoils.
Between times Clitheroe moved sideways into the parallel Raging Bull leagues and Ashton gain promotion. Now with years and reshuffles in league structure we are together once more.
However there is a long history of encounters between the sides and most games have been high scoring encounters with plenty of tries.
(except for a cup game back in the mid 1980's, in which your correspondent recalls, ended 0-0 after extra time!)
Never fear - this is highly unlikely on Saturday when both sides will be itching to put on a good show and come away with the bragging rights.

Our referee is Mr Simon Vale from the Manchester Society

Kick off is at 3pm and we welcome the Ashton players and officials, our referee and all guests to Littlemoor.
Needless to say - the usual bar refreshments will be available for eveyone.

On Sunday the U17's Colts travel north to Underly Park the picturesque home of Kirby Lonsdale RFC.
12.30 ko there – if you fancy a Sunday drive out there are worse places to go and support the lads.
