The Cavaliers bounced back from a serious reverse the previous week, to win with something to spare against a tenacious Blackpool outfit.
Skipper Simon Rawstron's [pic inset] troops were good value for a 7 try feast on a glorious afternoon at sunny Littlemoor.
The visitors played full part in what was an enjoyable spectacle for the watching throng, and full credit too them.
However the maroons, still smarting from last week, were in no mood to mess about. So much so they had scored 2 tries inside the first quarter and another before the interval, with only one in reply.
As usual, the pack were doing the grunt and groan hard yards, setting up the back line to apply the coup de grace. Inside centre Dave Fairhurst, scrum half Ben Rigby and outside half Lee Harris all dotting down over the whitewash. Just the one conversion however for Bill Thatcher to put the town team 17-5 ahead at the break.
The second half was more of the same for the Cavaliers. Some good ball retention and close quarter inter passing was causing no end of problems for the visitors defence. Although Clitheroe scored another four tries, it could have been so much more. Both young wingers, Tom Redfearn and Matt Bleasdale went close on a number of occasions, either just being bundled out of play or the support not just there in time.
But their time will undoubtedly come in the future.
Scorers in the second half were; locks Mark Piercy and Mark Jackson, hooker Aaron Atkinson and another for Lee Harris, a couple more conversions from the trusty boot of No.8 Thatcher [pictured wobble-ing off below] to cap his Man of the Match performance and the game was wrapped up.
