Littlemoor Awaits the Railwaymen

This Saturday, on All Fools Day, Clitheroe 1st XV host old friends an rivals Carnforth to Littlemoor.

The two clubs have had a long and lasting mutual respect for each other having played each other just about every season since the two clubs were formed within a year or two of each other; Carnforth in 1979 and Clitheroe of course in 1977.

The older players for the maroons will have played many times at Kellett Road and had some good memories of their Railway Club HQ. Grass roots rugby at its best.
Of course Carnforth can still boast of former player Shane Rich as a World Record holder for his 510 consecutive games for the club between 1989-2006; now that's dedication.
This season has gone pretty well for the visitors although their form has dipped of late and they lie 4th in the table. But they have a advantageous run in to the end of the season and are sure to be fired up for the visit to the Ribble Valley.
Especially as the maroons pipped them at home in January 31-44 in an entertaining game.!

Our referee is Simon Keeley from the Manchester Society

Kick off is 3pm, and we look forward to welcoming Simon, the Carnforth players, skipper Shane Weed and general factotum Alan Hardy to Littlemoor this Saturday.
